GRENADA REX RESORT GRAHAM AND CHRISTINE MARCH 2011
Your destination and hotel etc:
GRENADA. Grenada Rex Resort, Devotion to Ocean Dive Centre at hotel.
Your name or nick name:
Graham & Christine
Date of your trip: March 2011
Your thoughts on the hotel or resort:
We were pleasantly surprised by the lovely landscaped grounds and lakes. The
hotel has what is effectively it's own private beach which is very nice. Lovely
swimming pool. Very friendly staff as are the people of Grenada in general.
Hotel website:
Grenadian By Rex
Value for money?
Good
Your room:
Room was clean, not 5 star but adequate. Room thoroughly cleaned each day by very pleasant staff.
Air con:
Basic but worked OK.
Food:
We went all inclusive which was just as well because there is little else within
walking distance with the exception of the excellent Aquarium Restaurant. If you
don't opt for inclusive and you want a meal it is very expensive for what is on
offer. Very wide choice of meals available but not always the highest quality
cuts of meat etc. Sometimes I felt it was a bit school dinnerish, but there was
always something edible.
Pool:
Nice pool almost on the beach.
Bar:
Nice pool bar and bars in hotel. If you go all inclusive all drinks are
included.
Friendly staff?
Very friendly and helpful.
The dive centre or live aboard:
Devotion to Ocean. We were delighted with the dive centre Devotion to Ocean. As
experienced divers we were pleased the staff went out of their way to ensure we
did the more challenging dives that we enjoy. Beginners are very well catered
for too. Highly recommended.
Dive centre web site:
Devotion-2-Ocean
Quality of dive boat:
New dive boat able to take us to the Atlantic side of the island even in
rough conditions.
Recommended dive sites:
Plenty of nice reefs but for wrecks don't miss the wreck of Hema for nurse
sharks, eagle rays etc at 30m and the huge wreck of the Bianca C at 35 -40m which is very
spectacular.
Value for money?
Worked out about £30 per dive.
Friendly / knowledgeable / professional staff?
Excellent and helpful staff will go out of their way to make sure things are
just right for you.
Quality of diving:
Typically 20m viz, 27 degrees, great reefs and wrecks., good fish life, sharks,
rays, many sponges, limited corals.
Did you do the dives you wanted to do?
The dive ensured we got what we wanted.
Quality of equipment:
Good
