BLUE MELODY
LIVE ABOARD HURGADA EGYPT
SIMON CASEWELL & GAIL LEAMAN
Your destination and hotel etc:
Blue Melody, Hurgada, Egypt
Your name or nick name:
Simon Casewell & Gail Leaman
Date of your trip:
28/1/11 - 4/2/11
Your thoughts on the hotel or resort:
Spent most of our time on the boat. At the time of travelling there was civil
unrest throughout the country and we were advised to stay around the boat during
our time in port.
Hotel website:
BlueO2.com
Value for money?
Great value for money. We had booked onto a 'Hayah reef clean-up' week that was
subsidised and saved us around £250 - £300 for the whole week, but still the
same Northern Wrecks & Reefs itinerary
Your room:
Double cabin on board.
Air con:
Yes
Food:
Very good. The crew on board did a superb job. Three square meals each day and
we had a great supply of drinks and snacks throughout the day. The best part was
the final meal on the last night. Despite having a small galley the crew
produced a whole roast turkey with all the trimmings!
Pool:
The local Marriott Hotel was made available on the day of departure and the room
& pool facilities were great.
Bar:
The Blue O2 liveaboards run an honesty bar system with beer and wine available.
Friendly staff?
Top notch, hard working team that were polite, professional and couldn't do
enough for you. Kitting up was so easy with the guys there to help.
The dive centre or live aboard:
We sailed on the Blue Melody out of Hurgada.
Dive centre web site:

Quality of dive boat:
The boat was due for a refit shortly after this trip. However the cabins were
clean and neat and the dining room and lounge was spotless.
Recommended dive sites:
Rosalie Moller, The Barge, Ulysees, Yolanda Reef, Stingray station (night)
Value for money?
Excellent
Friendly / knowledgeable / professional staff?
The dive guide Chris was very good. His enthusiastic evening talks on-board were
well delivered and the pre-dive briefings were clear and concise.
Quality of diving:
Superb - only word for it.
Did you do the dives you wanted to do?
The Thistlegorm was the one that was cancelled and that was only due to a safety
concern with some local fishermen
Quality of equipment:
Tanks and weights provided as standard.
